Neurotoxin

Neurotoxin is an injectable treatment that relaxes targeted facial muscles to soften expression lines and wrinkles, helping create a smoother, more refreshed appearance.

Before your Neurotoxin Treatment

  • Avoid medications that inhibit clotting such as vitamin E, aspirin, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for seven days prior to treatment.
  • Make sure you do not have any massage or facial treatments scheduled within 7 days after your appointment.

What to Expect

  • You will feel multiple small needle injections and a slight stinging sensation, which will last about 3-5 seconds. Minor bleeding is possible.

What to Avoid After Neurotoxin

  • To stop any incidental bleeding from the injection, you may use a tissue and hand pressure.
  • Use a cold pack if needed for tenderness but be sure not to apply significant pressure as it can cause migration of the product.
  • Remain upright for 4-5 hours after treatment to help avoid toxin migration.
  • You may use Acetaminophen (if no underlying medical condition or allergy) for mild discomfort or headache, which is common after treatment.
  • You may shower & do most regular activities immediately after treatment. Use gentle cleansers & avoid makeup for 12 hours.
  • Avoid exposure to heat, saunas, hot tubs, and sunlight/tanning beds for 48 hours.
  • Avoid any facial treatments for 7-14 days post-procedure.
  • Avoid alcohol and strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
  • Do NOT lay face down with pressure on the face (ex. massage cradle, child’s pose in yoga), rub or massage eyes or face, or put any pressure on face for at least 48 hours.
  • Bruising/swelling at the injection site may occur. Bumps & marks at the injection site are normal & should resolve in a few hours.
  • It can take up to 2 weeks for the toxin to have full effect on nerves/muscles plus an additional 2 weeks after that for results to ‘settle’. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out, but it is highly recommended to wait until the 3-week mark to consider any touch-ups or reinjections.
  • Upon initial onset of neuromodulator effects, facial heaviness can be common/normal and should subside as you get used to toxins (usually by the 4-week mark).

Results

  • Duration of results vary from person to person. Average length of treatment results from Botox and Jeuveau is 8-14 weeks.
  • It is normal to see slow return of minor movement starting around 6-8 weeks after initial injection with Botox or Jeuveau. Your muscles will continue to be weaker than prior to treatment but will slowly regain strength until you return to baseline. ● Optimal timeframe for re-injection is every 12-16 weeks for Botox or Jeuveau.

Chemical Peel

A chemical peel is a skin resurfacing treatment that uses a specialized solution to exfoliate and renew the skin, improving tone, texture, acne, fine lines, and discoloration.

Before your Chemical Peel Treatment

What to Expect

  • Your face will be cleansed and then prepped with a peel prep solution that feels similar to alcohol or nail polish remover on your skin.
  • You may notice redness, warmth, mild swelling or tenderness, a feeling of tightness or dryness, tingling that is normal and typically improves within 24 hours.
  • During days 1-3, expect your skin to feel dry, tight, look slightly fuller before it improves, and light flaking may begin in certain areas (or no peeling at all, depending on the peel).
  • During days 3-7, you may experience light to moderate flaking, peeling around the mouth, nose, chin, or cheeks, itching or mild irritation as skin sheds.
  • Treatments may result in minimal to no downtime but create dramatic and visible results. Treatments may cause slight redness, tightness, peeling, flaking, or temporary dryness.

What to Avoid After Chemical Peel

  • Do not pick, pull, scrub, or peel the skin manually – this can cause irritation or unwanted pigmentation.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure and wear a broad-spectrum SPF daily for at least 4-6 weeks following treatment.
  • Do not use any exfoliating or active ingredients (acids, Retinol) on the treated area for at least 7 days post-treatment.

Tattoo Pigment Removal

Tattoo pigment removal is a laser treatment designed to break up unwanted tattoo ink so your body can naturally clear it over time. Multiple sessions are typically needed, and you may experience temporary redness, swelling, or light scabbing as the skin heals.

Before your Tattoo Removal Treatment

  • Avoid sun exposure / tanning beds for 2 weeks pre and post.
  • Avoid pain medicine, such as Aleve, Aspirin for 3-7 days. Topical numbing cream or local anesthetic may be used and cold compress may be applied prior to treatment.

What to Expect

  • The laser tattoo removal itself may not be uncomfortable but discomfort is a normal response during treatment and recovery. The targeted areas will feel tender and sensitive to touch due to swelling and blistering thereafter. Once these effects subside over the next few days, so does the pain.
  • Immediately after treatment, you will notice frosting on the area where the laser came in contact with the ink. It is caused by the rapid local heating of skin pigment releasing carbon dioxide on the surface of the skin which resembles white frosting. This signals the first stage of healing and it lasts for only a few minutes. More frosting occurs with dark ink compared to lighter ink. This is accompanied by swelling around the treated area.
  • Redness, tenderness and swelling usually subside a day or two after treatment. Blisters start forming within 24 hours after treatment and they may appear alarming, but these indicate that your body is healing as it should.
  • Avoid picking on your blisters because they will drain on their own and dry into scabs. The crust will eventually fall off within 10-14 days after treatment, provided that the area doesn’t get irritated.
  • One may even return to your usual activities shortly after treatment. The area will be bandaged to keep it dry for a few days following the treatment.

After your Tattoo Removal Treatment

  • Patients may experience minor discomfort and redness. This discomfort will subside quickly. However, the redness will last for 24-48 hours. Once the redness is gone the treated area will look similar to the way it did prior to treatment. Pin point bleeding may also occur.
  • Patients may wash the treated area as normal.
  • It is recommended that the treated area be covered with an antibiotic ointment for 1-week.
  • The body will absorb the broken up ink and the area should be retreated every 8-weeks. Multiple treatments will be required to achieve the desired result.
  • Keep out of the sun, out of pools/lakes/bath water until healed.

Apply recovery balm and keep it covered for 5-6 days while healing. Apply ice for 10 minutes post treatment.

  • Use sunscreen to protect the treated skin which is particularly sensitive to sunlight following treatment. +
  • Don’t apply makeup or any potentially irritating product on treated skin while it heals.
  • Avoid shaving treated areas unless the skin is healed.
  • Don’t soak in baths, hot tubs or pools unless the skin has healed completely.

Results

  • Many people start to see their ink fade slightly after each subsequent session and greater improvement after three appointments.
IPL

IPL is a light-based skin treatment that targets redness, sun damage, pigmentation, and uneven tone by using pulses of light to improve clarity and overall complexion.

Before your IPL Treatment

  • Be sure you have been evaluated by a qualified medical provider to ensure you are a candidate for IPL treatment and not at higher risk for complications.
  • Arrive at your appointment with clean skin if at all possible. The treatment area should be free of any makeup, creams, perfumes and lotions. If you have dark hair in the treatment area you should also shave prior to treatment as pigment in hair can increase discomfort (feel free to contact us if you have questions about this!).
  • Discontinue sun tanning, use of tanning beds and application of sunless tanning products at least 1 month before treatment.
  • Always use a physical SPF of >30 on all exposed treatment areas. Wear sun protective hats and clothing.
  • Discontinue use of exfoliating products at least 1 week prior to treatment. This includes physical exfoliants, chemical exfoliants and products such as Retinol.
  • If you have a history of cold sores or herpes outbreaks in the area being treated, a prescribed medication (Valtrex, valacyclovir) is recommended to be started prior to your treatment- please contact our office in advance if this applies to you!
  • You should have the following products on hand for after your treatment- a gentle facial cleanser, a physical sunscreen with SPF 30 or greater, and a gentle moisturizer. If you need product recommendations feel free to reach out prior to your appointment or on the day of treatment.

What to Expect

  • During the procedure, people may feel a pinching sensation. Some individuals have described this as a feeling similar to an elastic band being “snapped” on the

skin. Sensation is moderate and very tolerable. We typically recommend topical numbing medications to ensure optimal comfort.

  • Your skin may be temperature sensitive for several days after treatment. Brown spots and freckles will appear darker while healing.
  • It should take 4-6 weeks to see the full result and 2-3 treatments may be required to achieve an optimum result.
  • The sessions are designed to provide no downtime however, occasionally you may find that your cheeks and under eye areas are slightly puffy after treatment. ● You may use cold compresses (5 minutes on and 10 minutes off) several times an hour to help ease both redness and swelling.
  • Sleeping with your head elevated for the first night will also help decrease any swelling you may experience.
  • Redness around the treated area for a few hours to days.
  • Freckles and age spots may darken for three to seven days before starting to fade.
  • Skin flaking for up to 10 days.
  • Minor bruising that may last two weeks or less (very unusual).

What to Avoid After IPL

  • No hot showers for 48 hours.
  • For 2 days after a treatment avoid taking aspirin, Ibuprofen, drinking alcohol, heavy exertion and activities which may cause skin flushing.
  • Avoid harsh topical products such as retinols and glycolic acid products for one week after each session.
  • Avoid direct sunlight on the treated area and use a sunscreen with SPF 30 or greater for 4 to 6 weeks after treatment.
  • No swimming for a week, especially in pools with chemicals such as chlorine. ● No strenuous exercise for 48 hours. You can hit the gym after about 2 days post-therapy.
  • No hot tubs or Jacuzzis for 48 hours.
  • Avoid activities that cause excessive perspiration for 24 hours. ● Do not pick at or remove any loosening or peeling skin.
  • No electrolysis, facial waxing, or depilatories (hair removal products) for 14 days after a treatment.

Results

  • After IPL, you may look younger because your skin tone is more even. ● IPL will stimulate collagen growth by treating a deeper layer of skin, while improving texture, and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
Laser Vein Treatment

Laser vein treatment is a non-invasive procedure that uses targeted laser energy to reduce the appearance of visible veins, such as spider veins and broken capillaries, by gently heating the vessel so the body can naturally fade it over time.

Before your Laser Vein Treatment

  • If facial veins are being treated, there may be minor bruising and/or swelling following treatment. This can typically be covered using make-up. Plan accordingly since your face may show slight evidence of the laser treatment for a week or more.
  • If leg veins are being treated, there may be minor bruising, discoloration, and welting over treatment sites. Larger leg veins may appear bruised for a period of time after treatment. Full results can take weeks or months to be realized. Plan and schedule treatments accordingly, allowing for healing time and time for your treatment results to evolve to completion. The best time to treat leg veins are in fall, winter and spring when you are less inclined to wear shorts or be exposed to sun.
  • Plan treatments allowing for a period of no sun exposure, vigorous activity or use of hot tubs, saunas or spas for 48 hours after treatment.

What to Expect

  • Plan treatments allowing for a period of no sun exposure, vigorous activity or use of hot tubs, saunas or spas for 48 hours after treatment.
  • Discomfort is minimal and is usually compared to the “snap of a rubber band.” Cooling is typically applied post treatment. Multiple treatments may be required to achieve your desired result.
  • Treatment is very fast (minutes).

After your Laser Vein Treatment

  • Please call us at the first sign of persistent pain or blistering.
  • Use compression stockings (aka support hose) 20-30 psi worn continuously for three to five days. (You may purchase these at a medical supply store or pharmacy.)
  • Treatment area should be gently washed twice per day with lukewarm water and mild soap.
  • Best results to be seen after 1-2 treatments. Leg vein resolution usually takes 8-12 weeks. At the end of this process, some vessels may be gone while others may be lighter or not affected. A series of treatments is necessary for some veins. Additionally, the further down on the body, the more stubborn veins can begin to disappear.
  • Most patients are recommended to have a series of 3 treatments 6-8 weeks apart.
  • Depending on the area treated, some swelling and irritation may occur. However, most treatments have little to no down time and few side effects.
  • Avoid sunlight and use sunscreen or antibiotic ointments to promote healing and prevent damage. If a scab forms, it should not be picked or scarring may occur.
  • DOs – Cold packs to reduce redness/swelling, use SPF, wear compression garment/support for 3-5 days as needed (best results with longer wear).
  • DO NOTs – exercise for 3 days, take hot baths/showers, use hot tubs/saunas or have any alcohol/blood thinners for 5 days.

Results

  • Laser vein treatment for facial broken capillaries is designed to safely reduce the appearance of visible red vessels and diffuse redness, leaving the skin looking clearer and more even-toned.
  • Many clients notice improvement within the first few weeks as the treated vessels gradually fade, with continued results developing over time.
  • Depending on the size, depth, and number of capillaries, multiple sessions may be recommended for best outcomes.
Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Filler

HA filler is a cosmetic injectable treatment that restores volume, enhances facial contours, and smooths lines by using hyaluronic acid to create natural-looking hydration and fullness.

Before your Hyaluronic Acid Injection Treatment

  • Avoid medications that inhibit clotting such as vitamin E, aspirin, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for seven days prior to treatment. If any of these medications are prescribed by your primary care provider, please reach out to them for advice on how to proceed or contact our office for guidance.
  • If you have a history of facial cold sores (herpes, HSV), there is a risk that the needle sites could contribute to a recurrence. Please inform our office if this is a potential problem so we can coordinate preventative treatment.
  • There should be no dental work (including routine cleanings) for 30 days before and after treatment. Please contact our office asap if this is a concern.

What to Expect

  • You will feel multiple small needle injections and a slight stinging sensation, which will last about 3-5 seconds.
  • If cannula technique is utilized, you will feel a small needle injection at each ‘port site’ with burning due to lidocaine injection to numb the area, followed by pressure and ‘popping’ sensations.
  • Depending on treatment area there are several options for pain control including injections to numb the area or associated nerve.

What to Avoid After a Hyaluronic Acid Injection Treatment

  • You may experience some redness and swelling which normally lasts less than 7 days. Cold compresses may be used immediately after treatment to reduce swelling but are not necessary. If you choose to use cold compress, please make

sure to have a barrier between to avoid burning your skin with ice and ensure what you are using is clean to prevent infection.

  • If pain is severe after treatment or is associated with other reactions, such as pain, temperature changes, or any sores, please contact the office immediately.
  • If excessive swelling or any pain continues beyond 7 days, please contact the office immediately.
  • You may experience some mild to severe bruising after your dermal filler treatment. This is normal and may last up to three weeks. Please plan your calendar accordingly. We have options to help expedite the bruising, we suggest taking advantage of these options.
  • PLEASE DO NOT APPLY MAKEUP TO THE AREA for at least 72 hours, preferably 5 days. Cosmetics are inherently ‘dirty’ and can introduce bacteria to your compromised skin. Infection related to filler can cause major problems/complications and we want to do everything in our power to avoid.
  • Immediately after your procedure and for AT LEAST 48 hours (ideally 7-14 days) you should avoid the following: * Strenuous Exercise * Sun exposure/heat exposure/tanning beds * Alcoholic Beverages * Massaging/pressing areas treated * Extreme cold temperatures * Excessive sodium (salt) intake.
  • 48 hours after your procedure you may resume previous supplements such as gingko Biloba, garlic, flax oil, flax oil, cod liver oil, vitamin A, vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids.
  • Having a follow-up treatment before the product has fully dissipated will re-stimulate your own natural collagen and prolong your refreshed appearance. Please be sure to consult our office for individual timing recommendations for follow-up.
  • If Laser treatment, Chemical Peel or any other procedure is considered after dermal filler treatment, the risk of eliciting an inflammatory process may be possible.

Results

  • Hyaluronic Acid (HA) filler is designed to restore volume, enhance facial balance, and soften the appearance of lines while maintaining a natural, refreshed look.
  • Results are typically visible immediately after treatment, with final results improving over the next 4 weeks as any mild swelling settles and the product integrates into the tissue.

Before your Laser Hair Reduction Treatment

  • Prior to a laser hair removal treatment, patients must abstain from tweezing, waxing, or any other unwanted hair treatment that removes hair from its root.
  • There must be hair in the hair follicle for laser hair removal to work. The laser is attracted to the melanin, or pigment, of the hair. The hair must be in its anagen, or active, growth phase.
  • You should also avoid sun exposure in the 4-6 weeks prior to your laser hair removal treatment. Tanned skin has extra melanin, which attracts laser energy.
  • Right before your laser hair removal treatment, avoid applying any lotion, sunscreen, perfume, or other similar cosmetics to the surface of your skin.
  • Shave 1-3 days before your session. The idea is to have a nice, close shave, so that there is no hair outside the skin. It is best to have just enough hair to be visible so your laser technician knows what is to be treated. There may be some slight charring of the small amount of stubble that gets hit by the laser. So, if you notice an odor of singed hair, that’s normal.

What to Expect

  • Hair grows in cycles, making it necessary to receive a series of treatments. This varies from patient to patient. Each treatment is spaced between 4-6 weeks apart and a minimum of 6-8 treatments is recommended.
  • Gel will be applied to the area of treatment. The laser hand-piece has a cooling tip that will be applied to the areas and glided on the skin in a crosshatch pattern.
  • You will feel a sensation like a snapping rubber band and mild warmth. Most patients find that the treatment is tolerable on its own but topical numbing or Nitronox therapy is available at an additional cost.

After your Laser Hair Reduction Treatment

  • There is no downtime associated with this treatment and patients may resume their normal activities.
  • Avoid picking or scratching skin, do not use any other hair removal during treatment (waxing, electrolysis, or tweezing).
  • Wash and pat dry for 3 days and on the 4th day start gently exfoliating.
  • SPF is always recommended post treatment.
  • Be advised that treated hair can take one to two weeks to be excreted from the body, and to fall out.
  • Feel free to shave between treatments. Do not wax, thread, tweeze, or use depilatory products—this will remove the hair follicles, making it impossible to remove the hair with laser.
  • Do not exercise, take hot showers, or use hot tubs or saunas for 12-48 hours.

Results

  • You can begin to see hair fall out in approximately 1-3 weeks post-treatment.
  • Although hair will appear thinner and less noticeable with just one treatment, you’ll need to return for multiple follow-up appointments to see optimal results.
Wellness Treatment (B12 & Lipo-B Injection)

B12 and Lipo-B injections are wellness treatments designed to support energy, metabolism, and overall vitality by delivering essential vitamins and nutrients directly into the body for improved absorption.

Before your Wellness Treatment

  • Avoid medications that inhibit clotting such as vitamin E, aspirin, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for seven days prior to treatment.

What to Expect

  • Avoid medications that inhibit clotting such as vitamin E, aspirin, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for seven days prior to treatment.

After your Wellness Treatment

  • Ice may be used for any discomfort but usually none is required.
  • Bruising/swelling at the injection site may occur.

Results

  • Lipotropic nutrients are compounds that help catalyze the breakdown of fat during metabolism. They help promote the flow of fat & bile to and from the liver. In essence, they promote improved liver function and fat metabolism. The injection can prevent excess fat buildup in the liver – preventing fatigue.
  • Lipotropic nutrients can decrease resistant fat deposits, boost energy, transform carbohydrates into even more energy, accelerates thought process, helps keep healthy skin tone and strong nails, promotes healthy hair growth, controls estrogen levels, helps control cholesterol levels and gallstones, improves mood, speeds up metabolism and the natural removal of fat in a time released formula.
PRP/PRFM

PRP/PRFM is a regenerative treatment that uses your body’s own platelet-rich plasma to stimulate healing and collagen production, improving skin tone, texture, and supporting hair restoration.

Before your PRP/PRFM Treatment

  • Do Not Take ASPIRIN or IBUPROFEN (Advil, Motrin), or NAPROXEN (Aleve) or other Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDS) similar to these medications, for TEN (10) days before treatment. These substances impair platelet function in the normal clotting process and thus promote bleeding and bruising. It is permissible to take acetaminophen (Tylenol or Anacin-3)
  • Do Not Drink Alcohol for Two (2) days prior to treatment, this may cause excessive bleeding, and decreased resistance to infection.
  • Please avoid red wine for four (4) days before surgery in order to minimize bruising.
  • You should have a light meal before arriving the day of procedure, avoid caffeine.
  • Please arrive with clean skin if at all possible.

What to Expect

  • A small amount of a patient’s own blood is drawn into a vacuum collection tube containing a cell separator gel.
  • The tube is then placed into a centrifuge and spun for six minutes to separate the blood into a supernatant plasma/platelet suspension.
  • The red and white blood cells are located below the cell separator gel.
  • The platelets and plasma are then transferred in a closed system to a second vacuum tube containing a small amount of calcium chloride solution.
  • Fibrin polymerization begins and the PRP remains liquid for approximately 20 minutes before forming PRFM.
  • Your PRFM is ready for use as deemed appropriate by your provider (Ex. topical use or injection into areas such as undereyes or areas of thinning hair).

After your PRP/PRFM Treatment

  • In areas of injection, especially the undereyes, it is NORMAL to be swollen and puffy for a few days.
  • Bruising is common but should be mild and resolve within 7 days.
  • DO NOT apply makeup to the areas of injection or topical use.
  • DO NOT touch the sites of injection
  • DO NOT swim or undertake in any strenuous exercise
  • DO NOT expose yourself to long periods in the sun
  • DO NOT sit in a sauna, hot tub, or Jacuzzi
  • DO NOT expose yourself to extreme hot or cold temperatures, or to large swings in temperature

Results

  • Along with the benefit of using your own tissue therefore eliminating allergies there is the added intrigue of mobilizing your own stem cells for your benefit. PRP has been shown to have overall rejuvenating effects on the skin as in: improving skin texture, fine lines and wrinkles, increasing volume via the increased production of collagen and elastin, and by diminishing and improving the appearance of scars.
  • Results are generally visible at 3 weeks and continue to improve gradually over the next 36 months with improvement in texture and tone. Advanced wrinkling cannot be reversed and only a minimal improvement is predictable in persons with drug, alcohol, and tobacco usage. Severe scarring may not respond. Current data shows results may last 1824 months. Of course all individuals are different so there will be variations from one person to the next.
Kybella

Before

Avoid medications that inhibit clotting such as vitamin E, aspirin, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for seven days prior to treatment.

During

  • You will feel multiple small needle injections and a burning sensation, which will last about 3-5 seconds
  • As the fat cells lyse you will feel a slight burning sensation lasting several minutes (typically this sensation is gone within 15-30 minutes after treatment)

After

  • To stop any incidental bleeding from the injection, use a tissue and hand pressure.
  • Bruising/swelling at injection site is likely to occur.
  • The submental fullness will look worse before it looks better due to swelling in the area. Swelling is typically worst for the first 1-2 weeks, then gradually improves over the following 4 weeks. By the 4-8 week mark patients are typically back to

their ‘baseline’ but the area may feel firm and numb for a period of time. Full results are typically seen in 3-6 months.

Results

KYBELLA® (deoxycholic acid) injection is indicated for improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe convexity or fullness associated with submental fat, also called “double chin,” in adults.

Pixel8

Pixel8 is a fractional skin resurfacing treatment that delivers precise energy into the skin to boost collagen and improve fine lines, acne scars, pigmentation, and overall skin texture with minimal downtime.

Before your Pixel8 Treatment

  • 1 day after the treatment there could be redness and transient edema (swelling).
  • Avoid Accutane for the past 6 months.
  • Do not use topical agents that may increase sensitivity of skin: retinoids, topical antibiotics, exfoliants, acids that may be drying or irritating to the skin (such as alpha hydroxyl acid (AHA) beta hydroxyl acids (BHA), exfoliating masks, salicylic acids, hydroquinone, and benzoyl peroxide acne products) 5-7 days prior.
  • Do not take any anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen, Motrin or Advil for 3 days prior to treatment. These agents will interfere with the natural inflammatory process that is critical and responsible for your skin rejuvenation.
  • Avoidance of IPL/Laser procedures, unprotected sun exposure or sunburn for 2 weeks prior. However, IPL may be recommended immediately prior to your Pixel8 treatment and will be discussed with your provider.
  • No waxing, depilatory creams or electrolysis to area being treated 5-7 days prior.
  • No shaving the day of the procedure to avoid skin irritation. If there is dense hair present in the treatment area, closely shave the area the day before you arrive to your appointment.
  • Moles, warts or actinic (solar) keratosis should not be treated.
  • If you are prone to cold sores, take antiviral agent for 2 days prior to and day of treatment. Contact our office if this applies to you so we can assist with obtaining a prescription!
  • Avoid blood thinning agents (aspirin, fish oil, Omega-3, Vitamin E) for 1 week prior. May resume the day after treatment.

What to Expect

  • The majority of patients tolerate the 20–30-minute Pixel8 RF microneedling treatment well.
  • To help minimize discomfort during RF microneedling, a topical numbing agent is applied to the skin prior to treatment and Nitronox therapy is available.
  • Patients may notice a warm sensation and a pricking or scraping feeling during this treatment, but it is not typically painful.
  • Following Pixel8 RF microneedling, it is normal to have some level of redness, swelling, irritation, and mild discomfort, but these symptoms usually resolve quickly on their own within hours.

After your Pixel8 Treatment

  • Do not do anything to your skin for 24 hours unless instructed otherwise by your provider.
  • At the 24 hour mark you may wash your face with a gentle cleanser and apply Alumier Recover Balm.
  • No makeup for 5-7 days. Your skin should feel healed before you start using makeup again.
  • No intense exercise, swimming or heat for 5 days.
  • After 7 days you may resume your normal skincare regimen, unless otherwise instructed by your provider.
  • If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your provider ASAP.
  • Most patients will experience flakey/dry skin for about 7 days. Some patients will experience ‘purging’ with a flare up in acne for a week or two after treatment.
  • After 7 days, it is reasonable to perform light exfoliation as needed with an approved product (reach out if you need guidance!). It will take a full 3-4 months to see full results and most patients will need a series of treatments for optimal results.

Results

  • 1 day after the treatment there could be redness and transient edema (swelling).
  • 3 days – 1 week post treatment your skin tone would be brighter and more even. If you have oily skin, you will notice significant reduction in sebum production.
  • 1 month post treatment of RF Microneedling you would notice improvement in fine lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity. Improvement in pores size, scars, and over all complexion is also significantly noticeable.
  • 1–3-month post RF Microneedling treatment you will notice continuous improvement in wrinkles reduction and skin laxity. Collagen production has improved and you can notice the fullness and plumpness of your skin.

  • More intense treatments will have more significant redness that lasts longer periods of time.
  • It is normal to have a sunburn sensation that may include some discomfort may persist for up to 24-48 hours.
  • Patients may use ice to soothe areas of discomfort.
  • A few days after peeling of the skin will begin, be sure not to pick the skin as this can cause side effects such as discoloration, scarring or infection.
  • Topical numbing cream is typically used to help mitigate any discomfort. For patients who desire, Nitronox therapy is available at an additional cost.
  • Your eyes will be covered to protect them from the laser.
  • The laser head will be held in a way that hovers over the skin while your provider ‘pulses’ the laser on your skin. There will be a snapping noise and a mild snapping sensation that will feel warm.

After your Erbium Treatment

  • Mild erythema (redness) will be present in the treatment area and can last from a few hours up to a few days.
  • Treatment areas almost always become erythematous.
  • Immediately following the procedure, patients will experience a mild sunburn sensation that may include some mild discomfort.
  • Most patients do not feel any significant discomfort, however, an ice pack (not direct ice) may be applied to help soothe areas with discomfort.
  • A cooling lotion or soothing gel may be used after Erbium Yag treatments. Please contact our office for a recommendation.
  • It is important to protect your skin from environmental elements; therefore, a lotion with a SPF protection of at least 30 should be used daily.
  • A few days post procedure, patients will experience mild peeling of the skin. The peeling is similar to the effects of sunburn. Continue to follow the skin care regimen offered by your physician. Do not pick at the peeling skin, as it may lead to scarring.

Results

  • Erbium-YAG lasers have been used for laser resurfacing of skin.
  • Example uses include treating acne scarring, rhytids, skin texture, and melasma.
Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that uses tiny needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin to stimulate collagen production, improving texture, fine lines, acne scars, and overall skin tone.

Before your SkinPen Treatment

  • The treated area may be pink and mildly inflamed (similar to the appearance of a mild sunburn) for 24-48 hours following your SkinPen procedure.
  • For 24 hours post-procedure you are instructed to avoid ANY topical products (including cleansers) unless specifically directed otherwise.
  • If you are prone to herpes simplex outbreaks, such as cold sores, consult your provider on ways to treat prior or whether the procedure is appropriate for you.
  • If your face or treatment area has irritated skin (sunburn, open wounds, sores)

the day preceding your appointment, please contact our office before your appointment.

  • This procedure may not be performed on active breakouts or open lesions. Please consult your provider prior to your SkinPen procedure to address any such issues.
  • Wait at least six months post isotretinoin use before your SkinPen procedure, as isotretinoin use may impair proper wound healing.
  • If you have recently used spray or self-tanning lotions on treatment areas before your SkinPen procedure, discuss with your provider.
  • Avoid sun exposure for 24 hours prior to the procedure.
  • Discontinue the use of topical products containing AHAs, Retinol or Vitamin A for 24 hours prior to your SkinPen procedure.
  • If you are on autoimmune therapy, ask your provider if the procedure is appropriate for you.

What to Expect

  • Microneedling procedures are performed in a minimally-invasive (little to no introduction of the instrument into the body) and precise manner with the use of the sterile needle head.
  • The procedure is normally completed within 30–60 minutes, depending on the required procedure and anatomical site.
  • The skin may be treated with anesthetic prior to the procedure to reduce discomfort, which tends to be mild but may vary from person to person.

After your SkinPen Treatment

  • If you are prone to cold sores, continue your medications for 5 days.
  • Do not apply any products or wash your face for at least 24 hours after treatment. We recommend avoiding make-up for 5 days after treatment. You may apply pure hyaluronic acid serum if recommended by your provider.
  • After 24 hours, you may wash your face with cool water and a gentle cleanser.
  • After 24 hours you may use products specified by your provider. We highly recommend the Anteage Stem Cell Aftercare Kit for speedy recovery and optimal treatment results. If you prefer not to use Stem Cell products, AlumierMD Post Procedure Kit is a great option as well.
  • If you have discomfort, you may take medications, e.g. acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen as directed. Note- ibuprofen may increase risk of bruising.
  • Be sure to use physical sunscreen (zinc or titanium based) daily and minimize sun exposure to reduce the risk of sunburn and uneven pigmentation.
  • Most people will find their skin is acceptable for normal social activities the day after treatment. By day 3/4, it is normal for your skin to peel or flake for a few days. Be careful not to exfoliate or apply products unless specifically directed by your provider for at least 1 week after treatment. You will begin to see the benefits of Microneedling around the 7-10 day mark.

  • Severe swelling or pain that does not improve.
  • Blistering, yellow discharge, or signs of infection (fever, body aches, sweating, etc).
  • Cold sore outbreak or any signs of herpes (vesicles or blisters).

Results

  • Alma Hybrid treatments typically deliver noticeable improvements in skin texture, tone, and clarity. Many patients see smoother, more even skin with reduced fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, sun damage, and enlarged pores.
  • Over time, collagen stimulation leads to firmer, more youthful-looking skin, with results continuing to improve in the weeks and months after treatment.

Periocular Alma Hybrid

The Periocular Alma Hybrid Treatment offers a combination of fractional CO₂ and 1570 nm non-ablative laser energy to achieve skin resurfacing and collagen production to the periocular region. This area may include the upper and lower eyelids, lash line, crow’s feet, and surrounding skin. Intraocular metal shields will be inserted to allow safe treatment of the eyelids. This is the most aggressive option for the eye area, designed for patients who want maximum improvement from their session.

What to Expect

  • The Alma Hybrid combines ablative (CO2) and non-ablative (1540nm) laser wavelengths to address skin texture, pigmentation, and rejuvenation.
  • Treatment of the periocular region includes the use of intraocular metal shields to safely allow laser delivery directly to the eyelids.
  • To ensure comfort, a combination of topical anesthetic, ophthalmic numbing drops, and a nerve block injection (e.g., infraorbital or supraorbital block) will be administered prior to treatment.
  • You may feel heat, pressure, or mild tingling depending on the treatment intensity.

PDO Threads (Including Smooth Threads)

Smooth PDO threads are absorbable threads placed just beneath the skin to stimulate collagen production, improve skin texture, firmness, and overall skin quality. Unlike lifting threads, smooth threads are designed to support skin rejuvenation and gradual tightening rather than repositioning tissue.

Before your PDO Thread Treatment

  • Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements when possible (such as aspirin, NSAIDs, fish oil, vitamin E, and alcohol) for 5–7 days prior, unless medically necessary
  • Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup or skincare products in the treatment area
  • Inform your provider of any recent illnesses, infections, active skin concerns, or changes to your medical history
  • Let us know if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a history of poor wound healing or autoimmune conditions
  • If you have a history of cold sores (oral herpes / HSV-1), please inform your provider prior to treatment—especially when treating around the mouth. Procedures involving needles may trigger a flare in some individuals, and preventative antiviral medication may be recommended.
  • A consultation will be performed prior to treatment to confirm candidacy and review your personalized treatment plan.

What to Expect

  • Local numbing cream or lidocaine is applied to ensure comfort during the procedure.
  • You may feel mild pressure, tugging, or a slight pinching sensation during thread placement.
  • The procedure lasts 30-60 minutes, depending on the number of threads and treatment areas.
  • Apply a cold compress to the treated area for 15 minutes every hour for the first 24 hours to reduce swelling and bruising.

After your PDO Thread Treatment

  • Sleep with your head elevated on pillows for the first 3 nights to minimize swelling.
  • Drink plenty of water to support healing and collagen production.
  • Use a mild cleanser and avoid applying makeup for 24 hours.
  • Swelling, bruising, and tenderness are common and typically resolve within 5-7 days.
  • You may feel tightness or pulling sensations for up to 2 weeks as the threads settle.
  • Avoid excessive facial expressions, massaging the treated area, or dental procedures for 2 weeks to prevent thread displacement.
  • Avoid strenuous activities or heavy lifting for 1 week.
  • Avoid hot showers, saunas, or steam rooms for 7 days.
  • Refrain from using active skincare ingredients (retinoids, AHAs, or BHAs) for 7 days.
  • Do not touch or press on the treated area for 24 hours.
  • Do not sleep on your side or stomach for 3 nights.

Skin Biopsy

During

A skin biopsy is a procedure where a small sample of skin tissue is removed for examination to diagnose skin conditions such as melanoma, other skin cancers, infections, or unexplained rashes.

  • Procedure Details:
    • Local anesthesia is applied to numb the area before the biopsy.
    • The type of biopsy (shave, punch, or excisional) will depend on the location and size of the area being biopsied.
    • The sample is then removed using a scalpel or specialized biopsy tool.
    • A small bandage is applied to the biopsy site.
  • Sensation: You may feel a slight pinch when the anesthesia is administered, but the area will be numb during the procedure.
  • Duration: The biopsy typically takes 10-30 minutes, depending on the type of biopsy and the location of the skin sample.

After

Immediate Aftercare

  1. Keep the Area Clean: Gently wash the biopsy site with mild soap and water, and pat dry—do not rub.
  2. Bandage Care: Keep the bandage on the biopsy site for 24 hours. After 24 hours, you may remove the bandage and continue to keep the site clean and dry.
  3. Apply Ointment: Apply a thin layer of antibiotic ointment (like Neosporin) or petroleum jelly to the biopsy site and cover with a clean, non-stick bandage for the next 2-3 days to promote healing and prevent infection.
  4. Avoid Irritation: Avoid touching or scratching the biopsy site to minimize the risk of infection.

What to Expect

  • Swelling and Redness: Mild swelling and redness are common at the biopsy site and usually resolve within 2-5 days.
  • Scarring: A small scar will form after healing, but the size and appearance depend on the biopsy technique used.
  • Healing Time: The biopsy site should begin to heal within 7-14 days, depending on the depth of the biopsy and individual healing.
  • Results: Biopsy results may take 1-2 weeks to be available, depending on the type of tissue analysis required. Your provider will contact you with the results and discuss the next steps if necessary.

Restrictions

  1. Sun Protection: Avoid direct sun exposure to the biopsy site. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+) daily to the area for at least 3 months after the procedure.
  2. Heat Exposure: Avoid hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms for 7 days after the biopsy to prevent irritation and infection.
  3. Exercise: Refrain from vigorous physical activity or heavy lifting for 48 hours post-procedure to reduce the risk of bleeding and irritation.
  4. Avoid Smoking: Smoking can impair healing, so it’s advisable to avoid smoking for 48 hours after the biopsy.

DO NOT:

  • Do not scratch, pick, or peel the scab that forms over the biopsy site.
  • Do not apply makeup, lotions, or other products to the biopsy site until it has fully healed.
  • Do not submerge the biopsy site in water (e.g., swimming or soaking in a bathtub) for 7 days.
  • Do not resume topical treatments (such as retinoids or harsh exfoliants) over the biopsy site until it is fully healed.

Results

The results of a skin biopsy will help guide any further treatment or diagnosis. A small scar will remain at the biopsy site, but it should fade over time. The majority of patients experience full recovery without significant complications.

Contact Your Provider

  • Contact your provider if you experience excessive bleeding, signs of infection (increased redness, warmth, swelling, or pus), or if the wound does not heal as expected.
  • Notify your provider if you notice any unusual or persistent symptoms at the biopsy site, such as worsening pain or changes in the appearance of the wound.

    • A controlled jet of nitrous oxide gas is applied to the targeted lesion, freezing the tissue.
    • The procedure is quick and typically lasts 5-30 seconds per lesion, depending on its size.
  • Sensation: You may feel a cold or stinging sensation during the application, followed by numbness in the treated area.
  • Immediate Appearance: The treated area may appear red and slightly swollen immediately after treatment.

After

Immediate Aftercare

  1. Cleanse Gently: Keep the treated area clean by washing with mild soap and water. Pat dry—do not rub.
  2. Protect the Area: Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly or an antibiotic ointment to keep the area moist and reduce the risk of infection. Cover with a non-stick bandage if needed.
  3. Avoid Irritation: Refrain from touching, picking, or scratching the treated area to allow for proper healing.

What to Expect

  • Blister Formation: A blister or scab may form within 24-48 hours and is a normal part of the healing process.
  • Healing Time: The scab or crust will typically fall off on its own within 7-14 days, revealing fresh, healthy skin beneath.
  • Pigmentation Changes: Temporary redness or light/dark pigmentation may occur and usually resolves over time.

Restrictions

  1. Sun Protection: Avoid direct sun exposure on the treated area and apply SPF 30+ daily until the skin has fully healed.
  2. Heat Exposure: Refrain from using saunas, hot tubs, or hot showers for 48 hours post-treatment.
